Ice cooler · Stool · Side table · Storage — 4-in-1 · 36L

Looks like a rattan side table. Works as an ice cooler, a stool, extra seating, and a drinks table — all at once. The piece that earns its place at every outdoor gathering without looking like a cooler box.

✦  36L capacity (≈48 cans with ice)  ·  ✦  50kg static load — doubles as a stool  ·  ✦  Rattan-effect UV-stable PP  ·  ✦  Drain plugs · 3.6 kg

Why you'll love it

Rattan-effect design — looks like outdoor furniture, not a cooler — the textured polypropylene barrel mimics woven rattan so convincingly that it fits naturally beside your outdoor lounge, under a pergola, or at a poolside setup. Guests sit on it, rest drinks on it, and barely register it as a cooler. At a braai or garden party, that matters.
4-in-1 function — one piece, four jobs — use it as an ice cooler for drinks, flip the lid for a flat side table surface, sit on it as extra seating (50kg rated), or use the base as dry storage when you don't need the cold. It replaces four separate items that would otherwise each take up space on your patio.
36L — keeps around 48 cans cold with ice — at 36 litres this is a serious capacity cooler, not a desktop drinks bucket. Pack it with ice and a full case of 440ml cans with room to spare, or load it with wine, craft beer, and water for a full afternoon gathering. The buckle-and-hook lid keeps cold air in when not being accessed.
Drain plugs at the base — emptying is effortless — when the ice melts, remove the drain plugs and let the water out directly. No tipping, no lifting, no carrying a heavy wet cooler to the drain. A simple detail that makes a practical difference after a long afternoon.
UV-protected weatherproof PP — stays outdoors permanently — polypropylene resin is naturally water-resistant, and the UV stabilisation prevents the rattan-effect finish from fading or going brittle in the South African sun. Leave it on the patio year-round with no maintenance required.
3.6 kg with dual handles — moves with you — light enough to carry by hand between the kitchen and the garden, the garden and the pool, or loaded into the car for a camping trip or picnic. The two built-in handles make even a full 36L load manageable.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it keep ice cold?

The Rattan Barrel is an insulated cooler, not a high-end rotomoulded unit like a Yeti. In South African summer conditions, expect ice to last 4–8 hours depending on ambient temperature, how full the cooler is, and how often the lid is opened. Pre-chilling the contents before packing with ice significantly extends cold retention. For all-day events, bring extra ice.

Is the lid strong enough to sit on?

Yes — the lid is rated to a 50kg static load, which covers most adults for seated use. The buckle and hook mechanism locks the lid in place so it doesn't shift when weight is applied. It's designed to function as a stool and is built accordingly.

Can I leave it outside permanently?

Yes. The UV-protected polypropylene won't fade, crack, or degrade from sun exposure the way standard plastics do. Drain and dry after use — don't leave standing water in the base for extended periods — and it will hold up to South African outdoor conditions year-round.

How do the drain plugs work?

The drain plugs are located at the base of the cooler. After use, position the cooler near a drain or on grass, remove the plugs, and the melt water drains out directly. Reinsert before the next use. No need to tip or carry a water-filled cooler.
