A freestanding outdoor room in beige and steel. The NobleShade goes anywhere in your garden — no wall needed — and its sliding roof curtain lets you dial in exactly how much sky you want above you.

✦  2.95 × 2.95 m (8.7 m²) freestanding  ·  ✦  Sliding roof curtain  ·  ✦  PA-coated 160gsm polyester canopy  ·  ✦  Drainage channels included

Why you'll love it

Freestanding — place it anywhere in your garden — unlike a wall-mounted lean-to, the NobleShade stands on four posts and goes wherever you need it: centre-of-garden entertaining area, poolside lounge, front garden seating, or anywhere you want a defined outdoor space without proximity to a wall.
Sliding roof curtain — a different kind of shade — instead of a rollout canopy, the NobleShade uses a sliding curtain mechanism that glides along the frame rails. It's a cleaner, more architectural look — more pergola, less gazebo — and the beige fabric brings warmth and texture that a plain canopy doesn't.
PA-coated canopy with built-in drainage channels — the 160gsm polyester canopy has a PA (polyurethane-adjacent) coating for UV and water resistance, plus water drainage holes that channel rain off to the sides rather than pooling on the fabric. This is the detail that makes the difference in a Highveld summer storm.
2.95 × 2.95 m square — a proper outdoor room — the square footprint of 8.7 m² fits a full 6–8 seater outdoor dining set or a generous lounge configuration. At 2.2 m tall, there's ample clearance for standing, entertaining, and moving around freely.
Heavy-duty powder-coated steel frame — rust-resistant and built for weather — the same robust steel tube specification as the professional lean-to range: 50×50mm, 50×25mm, and Ø18mm sections. Powder coating provides rust and UV protection across all frame surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Does this need to be attached to a wall?

No — the NobleShade is fully freestanding on four posts. You can place it anywhere in your garden, on a deck, beside a pool, or in the middle of a lawn. No wall fixing required. This is what distinguishes it from a lean-to or wall-mounted pergola.

How well does it handle rain?

The PA-coated 160gsm canopy is water-resistant and designed to shed light to moderate rain. The built-in drainage holes channel water off to the sides rather than allowing it to pool on the fabric — which protects both the canopy and whatever's underneath. For heavy sustained downpours, we recommend partially sliding the curtain open to allow water to run off, and closing it again once rain passes.

How does the sliding curtain differ from a standard retractable canopy?

A standard retractable canopy rolls or folds from one end to the other. The NobleShade's sliding roof curtain glides along rails built into the top frame — it's a more architectural, pergola-style mechanism that bunches to one side when open rather than rolling up. It gives the structure a cleaner visual profile when the canopy is closed, and a more dramatic open feel when the curtain is slid back.

How many people are needed for assembly, and how long does it take?

At least two people are recommended — the frame sections are manageable but holding posts upright while connecting cross-beams is significantly easier with a second pair of hands. Most customers complete assembly in 2–4 hours. Instructions are included in the box.

Can I use it on a hard surface like tiles or concrete?

Yes. On hard surfaces, the posts sit on the surface directly. We recommend adding weight bags or sand bags to the base of each post on an exposed, windy site for additional stability. On grass or soil, the posts can be pegged or anchored into the ground for a more permanent installation.

How long does delivery take?

Free nationwide delivery across South Africa within 3-5 working days. Given the size and weight of this item, delivery is via a courier service and tracking will be provided once dispatched. Please ensure someone is available to receive — this is a large, heavy consignment.
